Community Care Program
Our community care program in Seine River is one of the communities who operate under the umbrella of Weechi-it-te-win. In 1982, Weechi-it-te-win was founded as an “Anishinaabe Alternative” to the Child Welfare that is rooted in the customs, traditions and values of the Anishinaabe people of Treaty #3.
Services provided by Weechi-it-te-win Family Services include: child care, alternative care, family preservation, psychological services, capacity building, family counselling, outpatient treatment for families, developmental support services, cultural support, and youth in transition programs.
It has been the sacred responsibility to repatriate children who have been brought into care outside of Weechi-it-te-win’s jurisdiction and reunite them with their families, communities and culture.
The Weechi-it-te-Win Website presents an overall framework of the organizational structure, operating philosophy, decentralized service delivery model, and bi-cultural services that Weechi-it-te-win has to offer.
